The philosophy of Northwest Christian Preschool is to provide a Christian environment that offers a safe, loving, and nurturing atmosphere. The goal of our preschool program is to encourage the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of each child through imaginative play and creative learning. This is accomplished by offering a broad spectrum of hands-on activities and age appropriate experiences using a variety of educational principles. Each child can discover, stretch, and grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually, and do so at his/her own pace. Large and small motor skills are developed through the use of manipulatives such as arts and crafts and socially interactive play.We strive to help the children learn essential topics such as the alphabet, numbers, safety, and music, as well as seasons, holidays, and animals. By demonstrating expertise in these areas, the child develops self-confidence and individuality so they can transition more easily into their elementary education.

FAQ:
Although uniforms are not required of students at Northwest Christian School, NCS does enforce a conservative dress code to ensure a healthy, Christ-centered environment for all in attendance.
The Northwest Christian School Dress Code is the result of a consultative process with students, parents, and staff representatives and is in accordance with scripture that encourages students to bring glory to God (1 Cor. 10:31). It seeks to strike a balance between individual expression and the expectation of appropriate attire in an academic setting.
• Student dress should be appropriate for a learning environment and should not be a distraction for students and/or staff.
• Hats are to be removed during the following: playing of the national anthem, prayer, chapel, praise and worship, formal assemblies, and in classes where directed by staff.
• For reasons of respect and maintaining a Christ-like environment, clothing or accessories with gang-related, hate-related, racist, sexist statements, images, or overtones are not permitted (including bandanas).
• Clothing that has images, pornography, substance abuse, promotion of secular media (such as band t-shirts), violence or profanity is not permitted.
• To encourage a distraction-free learning environment, revealing and/or provocative clothing is not permitted.
• Slippers are not appropriate foot covering during school and are not permitted, unless an authorized activity calls for it, such as pajama day.
Some examples of fashion trends which are not conducive to the existence of a distraction-free learning environment are:
• Visible undergarments, such as bra straps or boys boxers showing above the belt line of pants.
• Revealing clothing, such as halter tops, tube tops, backless tops, narrow-strapped low-cut tank tops, spaghetti straps, tight form-fitting clothing, bare midriffs (hands must be able to be lifted above the head without showing midriff).
• Pajamas or bathing suits are not permitted unless a preauthorized activity calls for such.
• Blankets are not permitted.
Student participation in technical, laboratory, arts and physical education programs may require considerations for dressing safely. Shoes are to be worn at all times. Athletic shoes must be worn during P.E. or other sports.
Students dressing in an inappropriate manner as described above will be required to cover up or change the offending item(s), or may be sent home after parental notification.
Repeat offenders will be given a strict list of uniform-type clothing that will be considered appropriate for school life. The listed items must be purchased by parents and worn to school and at all school-related events until such a time as to be determined by administration. The “forced uniform” will then be lifted and student may return to free dress according to the Dress Code. Forced uniform can be assigned permanently.

A student’s academic needs must be diagnosed before proper curriculum can be prescribed. Proper academic diagnosis and prescription is vital to a student’s achievement.
Each student entering Northwest Christian School’s A.C.E. program is given diagnostic tests to determine skill and concept mastery. The diagnostic tests assist the evaluator in determining the student’s academic needs in each subject. After the student completes the diagnostic testing, he is given curriculum that meets and challenges him at his performance level.
When weak areas are evident from the testing, the appropriate gap PACEs are prescribed to strengthen specific weaknesses. After completing the gap PACEs, the student progresses at his performance level. If he demonstrates mastery at all levels of testing, he has the ability to function at his chronological grade level.
Family Interview – scheduled once application and testing are complete.
