We have a range of classes from beginner to advanced, adults to kids. Our classes expose student to all the tools and techniques of the industry for each field of study.
Graphic Being offers summer school programs, before and and after school programs, homeschool programs and more. We also offer a variety of art and technology classes throughout the year to students and adults in our “Google-like” environment workspace complete with a secret bookshelf door entrance, elevator hammock swings, hover boards, laser cutter, 3D printers, wide format printers and all the programs and tools one would need to become a Graphic Being!

Intro to Animation (IA) No Prerequisites Required
Stop Motion animation is a technique that makes an inanimate object appear to move on its own, an example of this style of animation is claymation or South Park. By capturing individual frames of background and characters, an animation is created.
Students will work in groups to develop a storyline, backgrounds, characters, voiceovers, and sound effects can be added to complete animation.
Intro to Traditional Animation (ITA) No Prerequisites Required
Traditional animation is where you draw every frame and background to make up scenes and animated shorts. The 12 principals of animation are taught in these sessions and we look at examples from Disney cartoons.We capture individual frames of background and characters, then play them back where you see the animation you have created. The disciplines learned here translate up into more sophisticated 2D and 3D animation, used in today's high end films.
Students will create frame by frame animation, backgrounds, voice overs, and sound effects which can be added to their films. Additional Lab time is needed.
Intro to Adobe Photoshop (IPS) No Prerequisites Required
Intro to Adobe Photoshop, exposes you to the many levels and tools of Photoshop, as Professionals use it. We will offer specific Photoshop classes where different disciplines are applied. For example there will be additional classes in Photography, Animation, Digital Painting, Video Game production, Concept Art, etc. These are highly sought after classes that prep you for the real world of professional production in many different fields that use Photoshop as a production tool.
Students will work on their own high system with a Large Intuos, Wacom Tablet. They will be able to print or burn their images to DVDs. Additional Lab time is HIGHLY encouraged since it takes many many hours to master this software that has SO many different ways of using it.
Intro to Maya (IM) No Prerequisites Required
Intro to Maya is where you start. This is a high end 3D tool used in Videogames, film and TV production, and much more. Here is where you'll create three dimensional models, textures and environments. This class introduces you to the program and gets you familiar with the elements needed to move into more advanced classes. From this class you launch into 3D animation, characters, lighting, rendering, environments, and surface effects.
Students work on their own high end PC to learn the most they can. Assignments are made and additional lab time is highly encouraged to complete these assignments. This is the perfect start to a high end career. This program can take years to master, so it's time to get started.
Intro to Graphic Design (IGD) No Prerequisites Required
Introduction to Graphic Design is a class where we teach the basics of high quality design used for many many different fields: Advertising, Print, Web Design. We cover basic layout rules, design theories, and Video Game UI layouts.
Students will work on their own high-end computers with Large Intuos Wacom Tablets. We covere color theories, typography, and much more. This is where you get started to fine tune your skills into a specific discipline which has taken the art industry by storm. Different assignments are applied to logos, brochures, web sights, magazines and television.
Intro to 3D Animation (I3A) Prerequisite: IA or TA and IM
3D Animation is where it all begins if you want to Animate 3D objects for film or videgames. This where you learn to move inanimate objects with high end controls. Students will work on high end PCs using Maya software. You will to make objects, fly, roll, bounce and spin. From here many launch onto animation teams once their skills are up to par. Traditional animation disciplines are applied in all of these exercises.
Students will work on assignments and place their characters into pre-made environments. Additional lab time is really needed to fine tune your animation.
Visual Effects & Compositing (VEC) Prerequisite: IPS and IM
This is one of the most exciting energies in Film and TV and Videogames. This field is limitless since the technology keeps advancing every six months. There are more special effects artists working in the industry than ever before. SPL EFX are even blending down onto tablets and mobile devices. The possibilities are limitless. Composting plays an extremely huge role in special effects so we are combing these two into an introductory course. In this class we'll explore both disciplines and give assignment that combine the two. Photoshop and After Effects will be started with, but as advanced classes are added - eventually we'll add Maya to more classes. As we advance more, we'll introduce Nuke.
Students will work on high end computers with video input to capture, composite and add special effects. We will use green screen and plate matching techniques.
Digital Painting (DP) Prerequisite: IPS

Character Design / 3D (CD3) Prerequisite: IM
Character Design is the beginning where you bring your characters to life. This is the concept phase where you develop and iterate on your character. You will start with sketches and scan them or draw them directly into the computer. You will then develop many iterations of your character. You will be taught the newest methods of character creation and concept styles. Iterations will happen in Photoshop where you will try varying costumes and styles.
Students will work on a high-end computer with a Wacom Intuos Tablet. This is the beginning phases of character creation which stem into developing a 3D character in more advanced classes.
Motion Graphics (MG) Prerequisite: IPS and VEC
Motion Graphics is where Animation meets, Special Effects, Meets Advertising. It’s where text and images come to life in limitless possibilities. This is also the gateway to special effects. In this class you’ll learn to use Adobe AfterEffects and Photoshop in harmony to create motion graphics for web and multi-media purposes. Logos and text will fly onto the screen. You will be taught the latest and greatest software and be given assignments to be completed in Lab. Your end product can be assembled onto your personal demo reel.
Students will work on high end PC’s with Wacom Intuos Tablets. This class will launch you into graphic design for TV or Websites.
User Interface Design (UID) Prerequisite: IPS
User Interface Design is a class that teaches you the subtle design elements, needed to create a compelling and easy to follow user experience. It is where Photoshop, Text, the Golden Rule of Design and color, work in harmony to guide the guest through websites, games or applications. You will be assigned simple graphic projects that will step you through the guides to help you become a better designer. You will work with state-of-the-art software and latest techniques.
Students will work on high end PC’s with Wacom Intuos Tablets. This class will launch you into graphic design for Websites, Apps, or videogames. We will work on color theory, text and type layout, button flow and follow case studies of successful designs.
Advanced 3D Animation (A3A) Prerequisite: IA or TA, IM and I3A
Advanced 3D Animation is where you bring complex characters to life. Here you will learn how to move record a character using a complex skeletal rigging system. Walk and run cycles will be taught, but we will also explore some of the more complex animation used in today’s Film and TV shows, and also videogames. Here you will use traditional animation principals taught in beginning animation class and apply the 12 principals of animation taught by Disney animators.
Students will work on high end PC’s with Wacom Intuos Tablets. This class will launch you into character animation used for Motion Capture and character animation for a limitless skill set. Dream of working for Pixar or Disney? This is the gateway to that world.
Advanced Graphics and Web Design (AGW) Prerequisite: IPS and IGD
Advanced Graphics and Web Design is an advanced class that builds upon the basics of user Interface Design and Motion Graphics. This is where you will springboard into the world of professional web design and implementation. Here you will learn how to build web sites off templates, as well as create from them from scratch. You will also learn all the latest and greatest techniques and cool tips.
Students will work on high end PC’s with Wacom Intuos Tablets. This class will further your development for graphic design with Website specific applications. From here you can start working on websites and possibly even get actual assignments.
Advanced Lighting and Rendering (ALR) Prerequisite: IM
Advanced Lighting and Rendering is where it all comes together. You’ve modeled and animated and put lights in your scene. Now it’s time to get into advanced surfaces and lighting. Here is where you’ll learn to make 3D elements look amazing. Advanced techniques will discuss and teach ways to make surfaces look even more incredible that you’ve ever imagined. This is also where we’ll dive into beginning composite techniques. Todays’ render specialist are responsible for the amazing realistic looks you see in so many films. As you further your expertise in this area you will springboard into Renderman, which is used by Pixar and Disney (to name just a few).
Students will work on high end PC’s with Wacom Intuos Tablets. This class will further your development for 3D rendering techniques but also teaches you advanced lighting techniques and composite techniques to make surfaces look more sophisticated.
Advanced Printing and Marketing (APM) Prerequisite: IPS and IGD
Advanced Printing and Marketing is another avenue in our suite of Advanced Workshops. This is another channel into marketing and advertising which drives into print media; banners, signage, brochures and flyers. Print professionals have evolved into special die cut laser techniques that are blending with high end software now. Signage has gone high tech and this is just the class to prepare you for these kinds of jobs. You will learn to work off templates, as well as create projects from scratch. You will also learn all the latest tips and techniques.
Students will work on high end PC’s with Wacom Intuos Tablets. This class will further your development for graphic design with Website specific applications. From here you can start working on websites and possibly even work on actual professional assignments.
